Getting paid

Connect your own Stripe account and clients can pay your invoices and deposits by card. The money goes straight to you; Nipcy takes nothing.

On this page

Nipcy doesn't handle your money. Card payments go through Stripe, a payment company used by millions of businesses, into your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays out to your bank. Nipcy never holds your money and takes no percentage. Set it up under Manage → Payments & earnings.

Connect Stripe

  1. Open Payments & earnings.
  2. Find Connect your Stripe account and tap Connect Stripe account →.
  3. You go to Stripe. Sign in if you already have a Stripe account, or create one. Stripe asks for your details and your bank account so it can pay you.
  4. When you finish, Stripe sends you back to Nipcy.

The card on the page now shows your status:

  • Stripe: Connected: you're ready. Clients can pay your invoices and session deposits by card.
  • Stripe: Not ready yet: Stripe still needs something from you, usually ID or bank details. Tap Reconnect Stripe and finish the steps Stripe shows.

Until you're connected, the Sessions page shows a reminder with a Finish it button that brings you here.

What changes once you're connected

  • Invoices: your clients see a card button on the pay page. See Invoices.
  • Session deposits: when a client books a spot that needs a deposit, Nipcy emails them an invoice they can pay by card. When it's paid, the booking confirms itself, their gallery is created and the balance invoice is raised. Without Stripe, you mark the deposit received yourself. See Setting up a mini session.

Where the money goes

  • Straight to you. Each payment is made on your Stripe account. Nipcy is never in the middle.
  • Nipcy takes 0%. You keep everything your client pays, apart from Stripe's own processing fee, which Stripe takes before paying you out.
  • Payouts arrive in your bank on your Stripe payout schedule. You can see and change it in your Stripe dashboard.
  • Refunds and disputes are between you and your client. You handle them in your Stripe dashboard.

Your earnings

The same page shows how your business is doing:

  • Earned this month, and how it compares with last month.
  • All-time earnings, Completed sessions, Avg. order value and Still owed to you.
  • Earnings over time: the last 6 months.
  • Session breakdown: what kinds of work your money came from.
  • Recent payouts: your last 20 finished jobs.

Earnings count sessions you have marked complete, signed contracts whose date has passed, and paid invoices. If you're just starting, the page says Nothing finished yet.

Good to know

  • No Stripe? You can still use Nipcy. Clients pay you however you like, and you mark invoices paid with Record Payment.
  • Nipcy only reads your payment status. It can't move money out of your Stripe account.
  • On a phone: connecting works fine on a phone, but Stripe's sign-up asks for several details, so a computer can be easier.
