Frequently asked questions
Short, straight answers. For step-by-step guides, see Help.
Pricing and plans
Is Nipcy really free?
Yes. The Free plan costs nothing, needs no card and has no time limit. It holds 1,000 photos with unlimited galleries, and includes bookings, contracts, invoices and client records. The limits: 3 contracts and 3 questionnaires in total, no email sequences or event invitations, and Nipcy branding on client pages. Open your dashboard at least once every 6 months to keep your galleries online. See Plans and billing.
How much are the paid plans?
Starter is $9 a month (3,000 photos), Growth is $19 (12,000 photos) and Professional is $29 (40,000 photos). Paying yearly costs the same as 10 months: $90, $190 or $290.
Does Nipcy take a cut of my bookings?
No, never. You keep 100% of what clients pay you. Nipcy earns only from subscriptions. When clients pay by card, the money goes to your own Stripe account, and Stripe charges its normal processing fee.
What counts as a photo?
Every image you upload to a gallery counts as one, whatever its size, up to 50 MB per file. The smaller copies Nipcy makes for viewing don't count, and neither do your portfolio photos.
What happens when I reach my photo limit?
New uploads stop. Everything you already have stays online. Delete some photos or move to a bigger plan to upload more.
Can I change plans?
Yes, from Profile, then Change plan. Moving up takes effect straight away, with credit for the time left on your current plan. To move to a smaller plan, your photos have to fit in it first: Nipcy won't delete any for you.
What happens if I cancel?
Your plan runs to the end of what you paid for, then you are on Free. With 1,000 photos or fewer, that's it. With more, you get three email warnings: your galleries go offline on day 14, your account locks on day 44, and on day 50 all your photos and galleries are deleted, unless you subscribe again or delete down to 1,000 first. Full details in Plans and billing.
What if my card payment fails?
Stripe retries the card. Two days after the first failure, your account works like Free until a payment goes through, and the same countdown as cancelling starts from the day of that first failure. Update your card in Profile, then Manage billing.
Will my price go up?
If we ever raise a price, existing subscribers get at least 60 days' notice and the option to lock in yearly billing at their current price first.
What is an invite code?
A code from Nipcy that gives you a free month of Starter. Enter it when you sign up. When the month ends you move to Free automatically, and nothing is charged.
Galleries
How do I deliver a gallery to a client?
Create a gallery, upload your photos, then open Share and tap Generate Share Link. Send the link by text or email, or show the QR code. See Uploading photos and Sharing a gallery.
Do my galleries expire?
Only if you set an expiry date. You can set one on a gallery, on a whole group, or on a single share link, and change or remove it any time. Free accounts also follow the 6-month rule.
Can I password-protect a gallery?
Yes. Turn on Password Protection in the gallery's Settings, or add a password when you create a share link. Passwords need at least 6 characters.
Can clients download their photos?
Yes, if Downloads is on in the gallery's settings. Clients choose Small, Medium or Large (the original). On iPhone they can save straight to their Photos app. Download All gives them the whole gallery, in parts if it is very large.
Can clients pick their favourites?
Yes. Clients can heart photos and leave notes on them. Turn on Proofing and they can select photos and submit their picks to you. See Client feedback and proofing.
Can guests at an event get photos straight away?
Yes. Go Live makes new uploads appear in the gallery within seconds, and Event mode shows a QR code guests can scan. You can also make a one-time QR code for a single photo. See Live and event mode.
Bookings and payments
How do clients book me?
Create a session in Sessions, set the date, time slots and price, then tap Publish and share the link. Clients pick a time and hold their spot. See Setting up a mini session.
Can I take a deposit?
Yes. In a session's Price & payments, choose A deposit when they book and set an amount or a percentage. If you have connected Stripe, the client pays it by card. If not, they pay you through your own payment link (Venmo, PayPal, Square and so on) and you mark it received.
How do I take card payments?
Connect your Stripe account on Payments & earnings. After that, every invoice you send has a card payment button, and the money goes straight to your Stripe account. See Getting paid.
Do I need Stripe to use Nipcy?
No. Without Stripe you can still send invoices and contracts. Clients pay you however you normally get paid, and you record the payment in Nipcy.
Contracts and paperwork
Can clients sign contracts online?
Yes. Write a contract or start from the Starter Library, then send it by email or share the signing link. The client types their name to sign, and both of you get a copy by email. See Contracts.
Does Nipcy send payment reminders to my clients?
Not automatically. On an unpaid invoice, tap Reminder and Nipcy writes the message for you to copy and send by email or text. Nipcy reminds you, in your notifications, when an invoice is coming due or late.
Can I send a questionnaire before a session?
Yes. Build one or start from the Starter Library, then send it to your client. You can also have one go out automatically when a new enquiry arrives. See Questionnaires.
Your account
Does Nipcy work on my phone?
Yes. Every page works on a phone and on a computer. Photographers use Nipcy at events on their phone and at their desk for editing and paperwork.
How do I change my email or password?
Go to Settings. Change your email under Email, and use Send password reset email for your password. See Settings.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings, scroll to Danger zone and tap Delete account. Type DELETE to confirm. This deletes your galleries and photos for good and cancels any subscription straight away.
Who do I contact for help?
