Uploading and managing photos
Open a gallery and tap Upload, or drag photos onto it. Each photo can be up to 50 MB. Then select, sort, reorder, download or delete them.
On this page
Once a gallery exists, this is where you fill it. Open Galleries, then tap the gallery's name. If you have not made one yet, see Organising your galleries.
Upload photos
- Tap Upload in the toolbar and pick your photos. You can choose many at once.
- Or, on a computer, drag photos from your folder onto the box that says Drop photos here.
Nipcy shows what it is doing: Checking your plan..., then Uploading 3 of 120: filename, then Saving to gallery..., and finally how many photos were uploaded. If the connection drops, Nipcy says it is retrying and carries on by itself. Keep the page open until it finishes.
What you can upload:
- JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC, AVIF and TIFF files. RAW files are not accepted, so export them first.
- Up to 50 MB per photo.
- As many photos as your plan allows in total. Free holds 1,000, Starter 3,000, Growth 12,000 and Professional 40,000. If a batch would go over, Nipcy tells you how many you have left. See Plans and billing.
New photos are slotted into the gallery by file name, so IMG_0001 comes before IMG_0002.
If a photo is already there
If you upload a file with the same name as one already in the gallery, a Duplicate Detected box shows the existing photo next to the new one.
- Tap Replace to swap in the new file.
- Tap Skip to keep the old one.
If there are several duplicates, tick Do the same for all to answer once with Replace all or Skip all.
Look at a photo full size
Tap any photo to open it large. The top shows its name and its position, like "12 of 80". Swipe left and right (or use the arrow keys) to move through the gallery, and tap the X or press Esc to close.
The buttons at the top work on both phone and computer:
- Download saves the photo. On an iPhone or iPad it opens a Save to Photos screen instead, so the photo goes straight into your camera roll.
- Guest QR makes a one-time link for this photo. See Live and event mode.
- Set Cover makes this photo the gallery cover.
- The bin icon deletes the photo. It asks Delete? first.
On a phone these are icons only, without words.
The photo menu
Every photo has a ··· button in its corner. On a phone it is always there. On a computer it appears when you hold the mouse over the photo. It offers View, Download, Rename, Set as Cover, Replace, Guest QR and Delete.
- Rename and Replace are only in this menu.
- Delete asks you to confirm before the photo is removed.
You can also open the photo and use the buttons at the top for download, guest QR, cover and delete.
Select several photos
- Tap Select. The button changes to Done.
- Tap the photos you want, or tap All. Tap None to clear.
- Choose what to do:
- Delete removes them. It asks you to confirm and cannot be undone. - Download Selected saves them as a zip file. - Set as cover appears when exactly one photo is selected. - Add to content queue schedules them as social posts. See Content Studio.
- Tap Done when you are finished.
Download the whole gallery
Tap Download All. Small galleries come as one file. Big ones are split into parts of about 2 GB each, listed as Part 1 of 3 and so on. Tap each part to download it.
Downloading needs a share link to exist for the gallery. If there is none yet, Nipcy asks you to create one first. See Sharing a gallery.
Set the cover photo
The cover is the big photo clients see first. Open a photo and tap Set Cover, or use ··· then Set as Cover. Confirm with Set as Cover. To change which part of the photo shows, open Settings and tap Adjust position. See Gallery settings.
Sort and reorder
The sort menu in the toolbar changes how you see the photos:
- Ascending and Descending sort by file name.
- Date Added shows the newest uploads together.
- Most Liked puts the photos your client hearted most at the top.
- Custom Order shows the order your clients see.
Nipcy remembers your choice for each gallery on this device.
Clients always see the Custom Order. To change it:
- Choose Custom Order. The photos show as a square grid.
- Tap Select and pick one or more photos.
- Tap Move, then tap the spot where they should go. Or tap Move to end.
On a computer you can also drag a photo to a new spot, and hold Shift while clicking to select a range. The order saves by itself.
Filter by feedback
If clients have hearted or commented, filter buttons appear: All, the heart count and the comment count. Tap one to see only those photos. See Client feedback and proofing.
Good to know
- Tap the gallery name at the top to rename the gallery.
- The heart and comment numbers on each photo are always visible. Tap them to read what the client said.
- A green tick on a photo means your client picked it while proofing.
- Your own downloads always work, even when client downloads are switched off.
