What your clients see
Your client opens the link, sees the cover, taps View your gallery, and can heart, comment, pick favourites and download in three sizes. On an iPhone, photos save straight to their Photos app.
On this page
This guide walks through a gallery from your client's side, so you can explain it to them. To see it yourself, tap Preview on a link in the Share panel. See Sharing a gallery.
Clients never need an account or an app.
Opening the gallery
- If the gallery has a password, they see Protected Gallery and type it in, then tap Unlock Gallery.
- Next comes the cover: the cover photo full screen, the gallery name and a View your gallery button.
At the top of the gallery they see your logo or photo, your studio name, the gallery name and the number of photos. If you set an expiry date, they see it too, and in the last 7 days a reminder to download before then.
Looking through the photos
Photos load as they scroll. Tapping one opens it large, with arrows to move through the gallery.
- On a phone: two columns of photos. The heart, comment and download buttons are always shown under each photo.
- On a computer: photos fill neat rows. The buttons appear when the mouse is over a photo.
If you switched on Show Photo Names, each photo's file name shows under it.
Hearts and notes
Tapping the heart marks a favourite. No name needed.
To leave a note, they tap the comment button. The first time, Nipcy asks What should we call you? and they pick a name like @sarah. They can add quick tags such as Album Cover or Print Large and type a note, then tap Save Note. Everyone on the link can see the notes, and your replies show under them.
The heart and note totals at the top open lists of everything everyone said. A bell shows when someone mentions them or you reply.
Picking favourites (proofing)
If you turned on Proofing, they tap Select Photos, tap each photo they want, then Submit. A box asks them to confirm, because the list cannot be changed after sending. Then they see Selections Submitted.
Downloading
If you allowed downloads, tapping download on a photo offers sizes:
- Small: for texting and social media
- Medium: sharp on any screen
- Large: the original, best for prints
Sizes bigger than the original are left out. If only one size makes sense, the download starts straight away.
On an iPhone or iPad, instead of a file, they see the photo with Getting the photo ready, then a Save to Photos button. Tapping it opens the share sheet, where they choose Save Image. The photo goes straight into their Photos app.
Download All at the top saves the whole gallery. Big galleries come in parts of about 2 GB, listed as Part 1 of 3 and so on, and they download each part.
Slideshow
If you set up a slideshow, they see Play slideshow. See Gallery slideshow.
Keeping it on their phone
Clients can add the gallery to their phone's home screen from their browser's share menu. It then opens like an app, with the gallery's cover as its icon.
When a gallery is closed
- If the link was revoked or is wrong, they see Gallery Not Found.
- If it expired, they see Gallery Expired with the date and a note to contact you for a new link.
Nothing is deleted in either case. See Gallery settings.
Good to know
- A link to a whole group shows a page listing each gallery in it, with its photo count. They tap one to open it.
- Live galleries show a LIVE badge and new photos appear by themselves. See Live and event mode.
- A small Nipcy line shows at the bottom of the gallery unless you are on Growth or Professional and have turned it off.
